Whole 30 - Meals!

"So what to you eat everyday?"

"What is a typical lunch for you?"

"What do you do for snacks?"

Friends are very curious about my eating regimen while on the Whole 30 challenge. After all, I'm like the least likely person in all of my group of friends to me doing this, so they are just dumbfounded as to why I've decided to do this.

Paul and I are the complete opposite of health freaks, we laughed at all our friends who claimed to be any of the above...vegetarian, pescatarian, vegan, gluten-free, paleo, lactose free, raw food-ists, organic everything junkies. I really could go on if you wanted me too. I do think it is great to have a healthy lifestyle, but here in Orange County people take it a little too far. It's almost more of a trendy status symbol than anything else.

So to answer the first question, "So what to you eat everyday?" Well, here is my list of meals & snacks I ate yesterday.

Breakfast - 3 eggs scrambled + 1 tangerine
Snack - handful of cashews + 1 tangerine
Lunch - 1 chicken breast + cooked carrots and cabbage + 1 small yam
Snack - Vitamix juice // kale, pear, carrot + boiled egg
Dinner - Baked Salmon + steamed broccoli
Dessert - If I'm having one of those nights where I'm dying for dessert, I'll sometimes have a mango!

Question #2 - "What is a typical lunch for you?"

Whatever is quick and easy. Yesterday's lunch for example was made up mainly of leftovers. The yam I just popped into the microwave for 5 mins.  I've found that lunch time is when I don't feel like slaving over anything so if I have something on hand I will be more likely to stay strict with myself and not cheat!
snack - berry salad
"What do you do for snacks?" Well, snacks definitely aren't as fun as they used to be. Goodbye pita chips and hummus, cheez-its, peanut butter pretzel bites, and pirates booty. The whole 30 isn't exactly "snack friendly," When I'm searching for something to munch on my go to's lately are nuts (mainly cashews and almonds), a banana, apple, or tangerines, a vitamix juice, or carrots. The fact that I couldn't have ranch dressing or hummus to dip my carrots in was devastating at first, but I've slowly adapted :)
