Our big break

Last week we shot out final wedding of the year. It was a pretty weekday church wedding up in Pasadena with awesome details and a sweet couple. A great way to bring a close to 2014! Because it was a weekday we were a little nervous about traffic from Orange County to LA which gave us a great excuse to crash with our friends Taylor & Garry the night before. Taylor is currently in med school at USC (I know, right?) so they bought a condo up in LA and moved there earlier this year.

Sooo...now we have 4 months off!! Well, not exactly. We still have a hefty backlog and corporate/commercial work to finish up but other than that...no weddings until March. I can't remember the last time, or if we have ever had that much of a break from weddings! I'm excited for it now but I'm sure when January rolls around I will be itching to shoot one. They are just so fun! Stressful. But fun. During our break, Paul and I are really looking forward to the holidays this year! I know everyone is but this Thanksgiving/Christmas will be the first in the 8 years we've been together that Paul hasn't had finals to stress over. The first 4 years of dating weren't all that bad because we weren't married and did our own thing for the holidays but these past 4 have been brutal. I basically became a finals widow from October - December. I decorated the house, went Christmas shopping, attended holiday parties all by myself while Paul studied. Needless to day, we are both thrilled to finally have this time to celebrate together for once! Also, we have a couple projects planned to fill up our days. First, an herb garden!!
Since getting into our cooking shows we've become inspired to cook with fresh herbs. We recently took a trip of a nursery to gather all of the necessities...rosemary, cilantro, dill, parsley, basil, thyme, oregano and chives!! They smell amazing and taste incredible. We're still back and forth on how we want to plant them, it's a big debate here in our house right now.

  1. I am dying to have an herb garden! I'm thinking next summer I'm going to give it a try - I'm sure you guys will be experts by then so I'll probably have some questions for you! Enjoy your time off :)

  4. I feel ya on being a finals widow!! My hubby was in law school for the first two years of our marriage. Thankfully he was done for the semester by Christmas, but there wasn't much celebrating leading up!
