Weekend in black & white.

Last weekend…whew, I'm so glad it's over and I can now look back on it fondly instead of looking forward at it feeling like I need to take a nap. It was crazy but so much fun. Went wedding venue shopping with a friend, shot our first wedding of 2013, ran my 2nd 15k, visited family, and celebrated g-pa's 80th birthday!

If visiting 5 wedding venues in one afternoon, totaling 7 hours doesn't wear you out..I don't know that will. Even a Panera baguette couldn't bring me back! Love this girl so much though, I felt so honored that she asked me to be a part of her search. Summer 2014 will be one to remember.
Shot out first wedding of 2013..Isn't this church amazingly beautiful. So perfect!
And then the 15k. We stayed with our friends Matt & Natalie in downtown after a long day of shooting. My feet were so sore from the wedding but being able to have a friend part of the race day helped me get thru it! 9.3 miles and lots of hills later we finished!!
Finished… (lady next to me is not my friend) Paul snapped this photo of my at the finish and when I looked at it later I was shocked that there was someone next to me! Tunnel vision was in full force, I had my eye on the price, that finish line.
Thursday we are heading to New York! Oh man, it came so fast but we are super excited for a fun vacation. There's so much to get done before we leave so this is how I've been spending a lot of my time..headphone on in front of the computer :)

Well hello there..

I really haven't meant to neglect my blog...it has just sort of happened the past week :( It's basically been the same 'ol, you know...begging my husband for a puppy, scouring craigslist for a 1 in a million chance of a guest house or condo for rent in Eastside Costa Mesa (In our budget), and still training for that 15k, which is actually coming up this weekend!!
Wedding season officially begins for us in a few weeks, in 10 days we will be in NYC, and we have some super exciting news to share!!! Nope, not pregnant. But doesn't it seem like every girl and her cousin is on FB right now?! Not touching that water. Skipping and babe and are actually in the beginning stages of launching a second business! Super early stages, like we just came up with a name 2 days ago stage. This week has been full of design, branding, and brain storming. It's been a lot of late nights but I'm really excited about it and can't wait to share more about it soon! Hope you had a fun St. Patrick's day, we traditionally cooked up some corned beef & cabbage in the crockpot. Yuuummmyyy.

5 days and 7lbs later...a recap of our juice fast.

First off...it.was.hard. Super worth it but HARD. If you missed why we decided to do something crazy like this, read about it HERE. Paul's original goal was 10 days, 10 days of nothing but juiced fruit, veggies, and water (Oh and a handful of plain almonds...because we spoil ourselves). I knew that 10 days was not going to happen so we cut it down to 7....then after 3 days our goal went down to 5. Not only did we cut our original goal in half because of the difficulty, it was breaking the bank!

The first 3 days were killer...which we were warned about, both the documentary and our friends who have braved a juice fast or two told us. We didn't want to go anywhere or do anything. Our bodies were tired and detoxing. The light at the end of the tunnel was our friends telling us how much better we would feel on day 4 or 5. "You will have so much more energy and feel great..." they all said. So we waited...day 4, nothing, even day 5, nothing...at that point we just felt defeated. I think if we had felt as amazing as we thought we would the juice fast would continue but dang it we just wanted a cheeseburger! Jk, we actually tapered ourselves off at that point juicing for breakfast/lunch and having a light dinner like soup or salad. I did loose 7lbs, which was a huge bonus! Yes, I've been told most of that was water weight. But I've been more diligent about keeping most of it off and I'm feeling awesome so far, we've actually decided to introduce juicing into our regular routines! Now just need to find a juicer of our own, any great ones out there? We would love some suggestions. This week we are housesitting and our friends are letting us try out their Vitamix. It's amazing but so expensive..I don't know if I can let myself buy it. Side note...it's daylight savings time!! Summer is feeling so close now :) I love that I can go for a run at 6 or 7 and the sun is still out. Love it!

New York-ing it in 3 weeks.

Sometimes I feel like Paul & I overlook what a fun time of life we are in. Actually we don't "feel like" we do, we know we do. Our parents have told us numerous times when we start to talk about how much we want a puppy or to own a home (no baby talk yet), to just take it easy and enjoy life with limited responsibility. "Ya, ya..." we always said to ourselves, but now we are beginning to see the wisdom in their advice. Especially tonight. We already knew the dates of our NYC trip but never could get around to booking our flights and choosing the right hotel. With the dates just 3 weeks away we finally sat down tonight and booked them. No pet sitter or house sitter to worry about. We just went for it and never had to think twice. Parents, you were totally right, as you usually are.. (waving our white flag). Although we don't have everything that our hearts are hoping for right now, we are in a really great season of life together. It feels good to finally be thankful for that.

Valentines hike + picnic in one.

Finally getting around the blogging some photos of our hike & picnic..which happened to fall on Valentines...which occurred after surprise flowers, gift, and a sweet note. We are so cheesy & Valentines day was so last month, but just don't care. I brought along our camera for once to document the day!

Catalina Island trip

Catalina is such a special little place. I would recommend that everyone should take a trip there at some point. It makes for a great weekend getaway or even a day trip! This was our third trip to the island together. We did our usual, people watch, rent bikes, explored the island and ate at the same little Mexican restaurant that we have every time. Oh Catalina, I love you!
Each time we arrive this view makes me feel like I'm in another country! It was so amazing & green this time of year.
Something about this little bus was really cute.

Juice fast - day 2.

So we are officially 48 hours into our 10 day juice fast which we have decided to turn into 7 days. #1 reason why we've cut 3 days out? It's so dang expensive! Yesterday morning we headed to a local produce market and basically bought the place out, we got lots of looks as we sat there trying to figure out what exactly 96 leaves of kale looked like and how many apples we could fit into 1 bag when we needed 30. Our cart was over flowing with fruits & veggies. Total damage for 3 days worth of juice fasting? $105. Yeah. And we will be back at least 2 more times for the same amount of good. So expensive.

I keep telling myself it will all be worth it soon! Paul & I are both feeling tired at day 2 but we've heard that the first 3-4 days are the toughest as your body is detoxing itself. Can't wait to start feeling refreshed & healthy!! 5 days to go!
