Back in the swing.

After our 10 week wedding break wonderful-ness. We feel as though we are finally getting back into the swing of things. We soon found that we were obviously out of what we call "wedding shape."

Wedding Shape - The ability to shoot 10 consecutive hours like a boss.

After hour 6 I was ready to crawl up into a ball and sleep mid-reception. With our next wedding not for 3 more weeks I'm pretty sure we will be faced with the same scenario. It's worth it now when you love your job. Yes, I love my job again! Hallelujah. Here's a little look in the behind the scenes of our work day.

pre-shoot coffee. nothing better.

My BFF. Paul and our intern like to laugh behind my back while I wear it. Thanks guys.

This photo of Paul makes me LOL. Taken right as I caught Paul playing with matches in the corner.
Mid-Reception may I add. Big no no.

sweet surprises.

It's always a hard transition from summer and winter break when Paul and I are joined at the hip to the
"in-school" months when I hardly see the guy. Although I find that I get more work done when I'm alone. It doesn't change the fact that I turn into a total hermit. Today I got a sweet surprise from Paul. A little FaceTime chat between classes.

that smile, those ray-bans. Heart melts.

emo kid...and a wedding video.

The blog has been slow lately as life is continuing to be. Wedding season is still 3 months out, husband is back to school, Gossip Girl is my new BFF and finishing season 2 is the top priority on my to-do list this week. Yes, this is life as I know it. In the meantime, here's one of our latest wedding films from Saturday's wedding.

:

I'll blog again soon with hopefully a less emo outlook. Till then...

Staycation.

Everyone needs a good "staycation" once in awhile!

Staycation :: to go on vacation where the destination is no more than 30 miles from your current residential area.

We chose Laguna Beach, "where my Team LC girls at?!?"

We jumped in the car and drove 20 mins to a beach side hotel, The Surf and Sand. For the next 24 hours we explored Laguna, sipped over the top strong mango mojitos, watched the sunset, snacked on anything and everything. AND got introduced to "Dance moms." Oh they cray cray.

Staycation success.

business-smisness

We are so thrilled to be in the beginning steps of having a logo designed for us. 2012 will be such an exciting year, I can feel it! The graphic designer we are working with just sent over our "mood board!"

This mood board is basically where she will grab her inspiration from while designing 618's logo :-) Incorporating both our style and the style of 618. Super impressed so far!!

10 weeks.

This 10 week break from work has been glorious. Really it has. Any tired/burnt out feelings I had about my job from 2011 are gone and Paul and I are both ready for a nice, clean slate for 2012. So far we have 21 wonderful couples to work with this year. All of which we are super excited about. With our first wedding of the year on Saturday, I am ready. My entire outlook has changed as we enter our second full year. Our goals and expectations are better, our knowledge is bigger, and our hopes are higher. Paul will hate me for blogging this but I had to share.

This image tells me everything about the fact it's time for us to go back to work. Saturday, we are excited for you!

Laughter and Spontaneity.

As you may have read, life is slow lately. Which isn't necessarily bad, I mean, I've been waiting for January and this 10 week work break since May of 2011. Yes, this is my "but I deserve" justification. Next week Paul and I even planned a little getaway. Nothing too crazy, just staying the night in Laguna Beach. Why not? Spontaneity is something that has always been in my personality. I get it from momma who after church would say on a whim, "let's have lunch in LA today!" The family would be out the door in 10, on a train in 60, and eating a delicious meal in the city 2 hours later. I loved it. I have so many more memories of my moms spontaneous personality and I'm happy she passed it on to me.

Paul on the other hand is my little planner. He nearly had a heart attack when our friends asked us to book a hotel with them in Laguna a couple days ago. "Wait it's next week?!" "umm..yes?" I answered, "What's the problem?" I live for things like this. Like mom says, "this is good for Paul."

I couldn't agree more. In the meantime. Happy Friday! Let's laugh together to start off the weekend fresh. Pinterest is also very much a part of this slow time in life. These pins are found in what I call the "story of my life" board.

life lately.

Things are slow around here in the Gilster home.

- I've been to the DMV 4x in the past 2 weeks. It's like a second home. yikes.
- School loans are like a swift kick to the baby maker.
- Our crock pot has been used more this week than in the past 1.5 years we've owned it.
-  It's necessary to have a "breakfast for dinner" meal at least once a week. Talk about life changing.
- We just founded 30 Rock. Why did no one tell us about it?!

Shooting our first wedding of 2012 next weekend. Until then, 10am alarms, crock pot meals, 30 Rock, breakfast dinners, and taking random make-up less iPhone photos are what life is all about.

we've got color.

Yesterday = home depot trip, "Summer Hits of the 90's" on Pandora, and an evening of painting.

ta da!

It came out WAY more green than we were anticipating, but it's growing on us. We finally have some color in our living room!

The walls are still bare but I'm slowly finding new ceiling medallions on ebay for what we want to do. They are kinda pricey, $15+ each so the collection is growing over time :-)

cute as a button.

we have a button! Grab it :-)

fun projects.

Just before Christmas our friend Troy came to us about a secret Christmas gift he had in mind for his lovely wife Aimee. Over the past year Troy had filmed bits and pieces of their first year with their mini-sheepadoodle, Kean. If there is one thing to know about Troy and Aimee it's that Kean is their pride and joy. After pet sitting Kean for them a few times we can attest that he is a pretty cool dog. I basically beg Paul for one everyday. All in good time :-)

Troy handed over their home video footage and we put a little something-something together. I love having fun projects to keep my editing brain working. This was the final project.

total buds.

pray for paul.

First, nothing to worry, we hope! For months I have been begging Paul to get in to see a doctor for a check up. And bless my husband but he does have some pride to overcome at times ;-) In his world he doesn't need a doctor and never will. It's been years since he's been in for any sort of physical and for the past couple months he has had some unfamiliar symptoms. I'm not much of a worrier but I would love if you guys thought to pray for Paul at some point this week. First, he must find a doctor. He's yet to get one since moving up here 3 years ago but he promised me that before the start of his Spring semester (Jan 23rd) he would find one and finally make that appointment. Please pray for.

A great new doctor.
Answers and healing for Paul.
Speedy recovery if needed.

Happy Thursday.

Favorite breakfast spot. oversized breakfast burrito in my belly. Spending quality time with the hubby. 2012, you're too good.

p.s. we are finally painting this weekend!! Stoked for some before and afters. Happy Thursday!

2.0.1.2.

I'm not one for new years resolutions. I love that people do them, but for me I'm just so excited that I survived the year I can't even think about jumping into the next with new expectations and goals for myself. So this year Paul and I made one together, nothing too crazy since we are indeed resolution newbies.

2012 Resolution:: To simply spend more time together.

To those who know us personally, I know what you're thinking.. "how much more time can you spend with each other?" With working together and from home it's true, we are together a lot. But 3 hours in the same room as I pin on Pinterest and as Paul plays FIFA 12 doesn't count. We constantly find ourselves around one another but distracted from everything else but each other's company. 2012 is time to turn over a new leaf and to enjoy one another. How could I not with Paul's hot new Ray Ban Wayferers?

Back to the grind.

Last night we made our way back up from our quick weekend trip to San Diego. We brought a late Christmas gift to our parents, our wedding DVD! They weren't expecting it one bit so it was exciting to watch it with them. This was our weekend in a nutshell.

Please note my stylish "sock over skinny jeans" look.

Paul's sister is venturing into photography with her new starter camera. A Canon Rebel t2i. So exited to see her knowledge and talent grow.

We are back to the grind as we gear up for our first wedding of the year in 3 weeks and cleaning up our 2011 projects. It has been a great year :-)

2011 newsletter

Unfortunately we never got around to Christmas cards this year. And with my love for snail mail I was itching for something to make up for it. Tonight I whipped up this 2011 newsletter titled, "Paul and Kelley's 2011 in a nutshell." I kept it short and sweet. Writing a full page/single spaced story of our year nearly put me to sleep! :-)

It's a little hard to read on here, but you can see the overall layout. I'd love your feedback!

I am a photoshop dropout so this was created with Mac Word. I found the font at my favorite free font website dafont it is called Ultima if you love it as much as I do!
