Here it is! Our completed wedding film. This guy was definitely a labor of love. I can't even tell you how many times I started it and never finished it, only to open it up a couple months later to start all over again. Creating films of our couples wedding day comes naturally to us but having to create your very own is different world. With an entire library of songs and playlists perfect for wedding cinema, what was I to use for ours? I finally dwindled my list down to 4. They aren't my 4 favorite songs in the entire world but they worked, and so I loved them.
"Always be" - Holley Maher
"Blood bank" - Bon Iver
"Gravel lines" - Amy Seely
"The longer I run" - Peter Bradley Adams
So a year and a half later, it's done. Just like it took me a year to fully change my name but that's a whole other story.. If you have 17 mins to spare or maybe just a couple, enjoy!

many thanks.
I wish I could say that I was a diligent "thank you" card writer. My grandmother-in-law is the type who will send out constant reminders that you didn't send her a thank you note for the birthday gift she got for you last year. The woman will send you a thank you note for receiving your thank you note. Here are some great DIY postcard thank you's that I can't wait to send out to our loved ones.

whew. We made it!
Christmas was quite eventful this year. After running to 4 different houses yesterday, Paul and I were ready for a nap. In the past our families have switched things up a bit and some had their events on Christmas eve and others on Christmas day, but not this year :-) We are just about to pack up and head to Orange County for the remainder of the week but already planned to come back down to visit next weekend. We can't get enough of San Diego.

We wish everyone a happy new year!

Julian 2011.

Merry Christmas eve everyone!! Christmas sure crept up on us this year it feels like but we couldn't feel more blessed with the time we are able to spend at home with our families. Just yesterday we headed up to Julian with Paul's side of the family as we do each Christmas. Julian is the cutest little town up in the mountains that is known for their ah-mazing apple pies. Needless to say our day was full of hiking, window shopping, cider sipping, pie eating, and lots of laughter.

Already looking forward to Julian 2012!

Home is where the heart is.
Going home is a special treat for us. Although we only live about 90 mins from our parents, with the hustle and bustle of everyday life we find it difficult to go home as much as we'd like. After arriving yesterday, our days have been filled with laughter, pumpkin rolls, homemade goodies, board games, and daily good hair days.
Younger sisters that love to experiment with hair are a special blessing. :-) Merry Christmas!

Present time.
Paul and I did our Christmas exchange..a week ago. We were just too excited to have us open each other's gifts! Paul did so good, I love when he goes shopping for me. Which happens to be twice a year. Bday/Christmas.
Top from Nordstrom.
Flannel from Urban.
And he picked out a couple Target V-necks which I basically live in. Successful Christmas I'd say!
Operation wedding vid. Day 3 update.
Taking a little break..But! I'm basically done with it. We are home for Christmas till Monday so I will be posting it next week :-)

Operation wedding vid. Day 1.
When Paul and I got married, we were your typical bride and groom. We weren't in the wedding industry, attended a few friends weddings here and there, and planned our wedding in a year and 2 weeks (fathers orders). Being youngsters, college students and daddy's only girl he was terrified for us. So we obeyed his wishes and waited a full year.
We also decided a few weeks before our wedding to hire a cinematographer. Six weeks before the big day it dawned on me, "I'm a film major and we aren't having our wedding filmed..hmm." 2 friends, 2 cameras, and 4 lenses later we had a wedding video. My current inner professional cinematographer is still angry at me about this. It was a huge blessing in discise, because this process is what brought us 618studios. We were given the raw footage for me to edit and a year and a half later all we have is this.
With a month to go until we begin our 2012 season my goal for the next few days is to finish a full-length edit of our own day.

baby requests.
It's Sunday evening, I'm pinning away and just happen to pin this Chevron style onesie. It's adorable, I can't pass it up. Then this happens.
Instant baby talk. Just out of curiosity, any other young marrieds out there getting this all.the.time?
Paul and I just celebrated our 1.5 year mark of marriage, plus we're still youngsters. 22 and 23. Does the talk always start this early? I thought we were in the clear for at least 3 or 4 more years. I don't mind it, I just laugh it off. The girls above are Lauren my sis-in-law who is constantly asking me to make her an aunty and Morland is a friend from high school, mother of two, and amazingly crafty lady. Go check out her blog! Love them both. :-)
Mom's are the worst! Both mine and Paul's like to take their baby jabs each time we go home to visit. Oh ladies..what are we gonna do with you? Not to burst anyones bubble but babies just aren't on the agenda just yet, or for the next 4 or so years. Honestly, I have puppy fever rather than baby fever. We have so much we want to accomplish before little Gilsters. Expand our business, buy a house, move to San Diego..the list goes on. Besides, I still feel like a baby myself! Kiddos someday, we promise.

Party people!

Last week we were invited to a Christmas party by a new friend. Who just happens to be a wonderful photographer :-) One of the best thing about our job is all the great people we get to meet. It's overwhelming the amount of talented folks we have met in the last year. AND another perk is you get over the top cool Christmas party photos.

For those of you who know us personally this last photo is quite a shocker. We are anti any form of P.D.A (public display of affection). People had to plead us to pretend like we liked each other. So we went for it. Go us! |

merry christmas to me.
and there I was. Me, a Christmas list, a credit card, and Urban Outfitters. I should have known I was setting myself up for failure.
Nothing screams Merry Christmas more than fully intending on gifting this to your friend and deciding half way through your Christmas shopping that you are keeping it.
"Kelley, I wanted to get you a new handbag for Christmas but I figured it was something you needed to choose for yourself." ..Maybe I have exposed him to too much Giulianna and Bill this week.

#974 why I love Paul:: He refers to purses as handbags. How classy of him.

Paul's Christmas.
Before marriage Paul and I spoiled each other rotten on any holiday or occasion. Birthdays, Christmas, Valentines day, you name it we went almost disgustingly over the top for each other. New snowboarding jacket + iPod touch? No prob. Yeah, we were that couple.
We were also that couple, when we lived at home and had close to no financial obligations. Now we are much more practical. Thank goodness, I didn't think I could top the snowboarding jacket + iPod touch Christmas! This year our limit was to spend $100 (or less) on each other. This is what Paul got.

I married that guy that has more expensive taste than I do. He only shops at Urban Outfitters and coins himself too good for Target. I know. High maintenance is his middle name.

Only 3 more days until I get this guy back in my life! Finals have claimed him for the week. Not cool, finals, not cool.

So simple for your friends and loved ones!! ..And who doesn't love a warm cup of hot chocolate around the holidays? Here's what you need..
// Mason Jar glasses (I bought the 1 quart size but they are a little too big, if you are feeling generous, go for it!).

// Peppermint candy canes (crush them up and sprinkle them between the cocoa and mallows for an extra fun layer).
// Your favorite hot chocolate mix.

hobby.
I've mentioned this a few times here that growing up my entire life was riding and showing horses. Since selling my horse 2 years ago I thought I could move on but I only missed it more. The past couple weeks I started helping a trainer exercise her horses 3x a week. It's a small slice of heaven in my world.
It feels so great to get back into a hobby that you love and so healthy too. Not only physically but emotionally and mentally also. Since making time for this in my week I've noticed that I'm less stressed about work, it has become my safe place and time for me to clear my head. Make time for your hobby you will be so happy you did.

Christmas 2011.
Last week we got our Christmas tree on a whim..which is exactly how we did it last year and how I hope we continue to in future Christmas' to come! Spontaneity is great. While decorating we did something we rarely do, took photos with our dslr's. Scary!! But really it is. Ask us to film anything with them, no problem. Snap a photo? "You want us to do what?"
So we did. It's ok you can share with us how bad we are, we know. Even better give us some pointers! We can't focus if our lives depended on it!

one of those weeks..
The past few days have been some rough ones. I try to keep my posts positive a majority of the time, but lets be honest people blog about their lives and life isn't rainbows and butterflies all the time. Life isn't rainbows or butterflies this week.
We knew this time of year would come. The time when we would be basically living off of the income of the summer/fall as we entered the dry season of weddings, winter. All of a sudden life seems so much more expensive. I'm not sure if it's because we don't have a constant income at the moment or because life is really more expensive.
This week we've been hit with some pretty big financial adjustments. It's time to begin paying back my student loans and after I set up my payment plan last week it seems that our payments will be $200 more PER MONTH than we were anticipating, ouch. We are also in the process of switching our policy to another car insurance company who just called to inform us this morning that there is still a citation on my record (speeding ticket a few weeks before our wedding). Therefore our premium was increases $300, ouch again. It seems like these hits have been non-stop the past couple weeks. Needless to say, we're over it. But regardless of all that has been going on I know that God provides. He has been unbelievably faithful in growing our business in the past year and a half and allowed us to take that leap of faith in making this our full-time jobs which has been a HUGE blessing. If anything this time has allowing us to rest our trust and faith in the Lord even more than ever.
“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow...." Matthew 6:31-34

A girl can dream.
I have a new crush. I saw it for the first time the other night at Urban Outfitters as the hubby and I were browsing while sipping our Gypsy Den hot apple cider and chai tea before getting out Christmas tree. It was love at first sight.
This chevron chair needs to be mine!
I've become a sucker for Chevron, basically overnight. I even tried to convince Paul to paint me Chevron walls! That battle lasted for about 3 seconds.

The 25 days of Christmas
I like to go on adventures and I love when Paul wants to join me. He is more of the take it easy, hang on the couch, watch a movie kind of guy. Which is perfect for me but drives me crazy at the same time because I'm go.go.go all the time. Which is good for Paul but drives him crazy at the same time..
We're good for each other in a weird way.
I love Thursdays because it's Paul's short day at school and he gets home early enough to go out and do something fun! Obvious adventure day. We both decided it was time to get our tree. we.love.Christmas. After bringing big boy home we spent the evening listening to the Justin Bieber Christmas album (Paul's choice I swear by my life!) and hanging ornaments on our tree. Eventually we had to end our adventurous evening by going back to work and homework for Paul but it was great while it lasted. I love nights like these.
