Gah...I really need to keep up with this thing, I'm horrible at remembering :)
January has seriously flown by!!! Paul and I started our spring semester (my last may I add), so things have been a little more busy, and by busy I mean "structured" I can no longer have days of doing absolutely nothing, I actually have to juggle school, internship, senior project, nanny, and 618..whew! I just got tired thinking about it. Although I may have a lot of my plate, I find that I actually become more driven when I pile it all on my plate like a good Thanksgiving dinner plate :) To be honest, I feel like i'm going to get lazy when come May I don't have school or senior project or internship. I will just shoot a wedding ever weekend to make up for it!!
Next month will be such an awesome adventure!! Paul and I are shooting our first out of state wedding in good 'ol Colorado! ahhh i'm seriously so pumped for it :) Many pics to come following out trip out to Colorado Springs!
Stay blessed.

a {bit} of love.
Today was a great day :) most are. I found out that i'm going to be the new video intern for 31bits. I could not be more stoked! I absolutely love this company and what they stand for. When becoming a film major, I knew that LA was never my calling and to be honest, I'm totally ok with that! I can't wait for what these next few months hold for me as I begin my internship with them :)
Also, today 618 was featured on one of my favorite wedding blogs, Wedding Chicks. Although i'm married I still check my favorite wedding blogs daily. It fun to see what is new and popular in the wedding industry. Let me tell you, coming into this industry I never knew how huge it is!! It's seriously awesome though getting to know new contacts and the awesome people within it. The Lord has really been allowing us to meet great people in the past few months, we are truly blessed.

all the small things.
Seriously. These past 7 months of marriage have flown by and to be honest it feels like we have been married for 7 years (in a good way!). Marriage really was not such a shift for me as weird as it sounds. Moving Paul in after our honeymoon felt totally normal..i guess that's how it should be. Well, over these past 7 months Paul and I have been making some pretty large decisions, starting a business, maintaining it, keeping up with school, keeping up with our apartment :). And as much as we LOVE our apartment, we can not wait to be home owners in the near future, that is why we have set a goal of 3 years.
Move to San Diego and own a home in 3 years?!? wooooo! There are many things that must fall into place for this huge milestone to occur but we are confident that we can do it! I'm not too picky, just somewhere safe, quiet, and homey. Exciting times!!

good things come to those who wait.
2 great things happened this beautiful Friday in January...First thing, one of the weddings we shot back in October was featured on a fairly popular wedding blog called Love and Lavender. Although our recognition and link to our website was a quarter of the size of my pinky finger, I was still stoked!! To see the feature click HERE :)
The second glorious thing that happened was the Valentine's paper source catalog came! If you know me you know I love paper source (i've even gotten Paul to become a fan)..shhhhh. Here are some of the goodies I have been eyeing...

gaaahhhhh! Paul and I are still super stoked about having 618studios be a part of the Green Wedding Shoes vendor list...I think I have gone to their website like 5x just today to look and see if it was really there :) Go take a look for yourself!! http://greenweddingshoes.com/wedding-vendor-guide/?view=vendors&gws_cat=videographers
another fun fact:: Our 3rd Camera arrived today! It's kind of creepy that the UPS man arrived at 6pm (when it's dark) to deliver it..never the less it didn't phase my excitement. Lots of good things to come from this bad boy!!

Anthro!
So during this past Christmas holiday...I seemed to have acquired a total of $200 in funds to my favorite store Anthropologie...now let's get something straight here...I am inspired by the store itself, NOT the prices!! As amazing as you may be Anthro, you are still amazingly overpriced, just had to throw that out there. Here are a few items that caught my eye while browsing on their website...
I have been kind of obsessed with this comforter for some time now...i'm not sure why because it doesn't look comfortable whatsoever, however I still think it's amazing!
these boots caught my eye because they are labelled as "Show jumping Boot." Being an equestrian from the time I can remember..sorry Anthro, as cute as they are, they aren't show jumping boots.
these are show jumping boots.
1. this sweater looks so comfy...not for $100 though
2. I have been dying to own a pair of Joes Jeans...Gray or Denim? hmm...
I really really like this!
ok...if someone can explain to me why this cloth tote of over $100 that would be great..

He is good.
In about 48 hours from now I will begin my last semester of my college career. I would like to say its bittersweet, that I will miss the college life, but its just sweet, forget the bitter. I have really enjoyed my time at VU, but I'm sure I will enjoy my time as a college graduate so much more! Just reflecting on these past 6 months has been overwhelming, the Lord has truly provided so much in mine and Paul's life and it has been an amazing experience to watch the growth of our relationship with Him together.
Just the other day I was looking at our wedding schedule for 2011 (14!!) and watch as the inquiries seem to be not trickling but flooding into our 618studios inbox I cannot help but recognize that this is God's will. Paul and I often use the phrase "Jesus loves 618, if Jesus had a Facebook, He would be a fan." Meaning that He has a plan for our still infant of a company and we are so excited to follow it.
Therefore, I just wanted to offer some words of encouragement to all follows or guests reading this:
Don't be afraid to allow the Lord to redirect your life because ultimately it is for the best. And most importantly, it is for His glory. Take it from the girl who is afraid of any type of failure out there, who thought to herself before purchasing a large investment of equipment for our business back in the summer and said, "ok this could take off, or this could totally not work out and be the worst investment I have yet to make." I was literally terrified. Yet, in spite of my fear, I was at peace knowing that the Lord was in control, that if He wanted this to be used for His glory that it would, and if not then that's ok because it was not from Him. Therefore, I just really encourage you all to take chances, follow dreams, and not be afraid to fail because the Lord is sovereign, good, and mighty and He will truly bless your venture if He finds fit.

home, sweet, home.
Eversince becoming a newlywed (just 7 months ago) I have been dreaming of the day when Paul and I purchase our first home, don't get me wrong apartment living has been both fun and entertaining. However, I feel that a home brings out more of a couples style..therefore I have been grabbing pictures and ideas here and there for what our future home looks like. Of course I went straight to Potterybarn.com to fulfill this project. I present to you the future Gilster home! lol
I couldn't choose which I liked better so I decided I would like both..
I know that Paul and I want a large Family so this 4 person round table would not due, but wouldn't it be cute as a kitchen table? Maybe this one in the kitchen and a larger one in the dining room...yes? ok cool.
I'm kind of obsessed with the idea of having an old fashion trunk serve as a coffee table...
and I have the problem of not adding enough color to a room (which I have found in just decorating our apartment) so I thought this aqua blue coffee table was equally amazing.
and...you can't tell me these vintage keys aren't to die for...i'm in love with them!!
and I will leave you with that for now....more Gilster home planning to come.

now that's whats up.
So, once again I have failed to currently update my personal blog...I blame the designing of our new 618studios website which has been a love/hate relationship of mine for a few weeks now. At last we launched it today and I'm so thrilled with how it turned out. Our old website was super "blah" which is not at all who The Gilsters are in real life. Therefore, I bought a new template from Prophoto blogs (who rock by the way) set up a shoot date with my oh so fav photographer pal Colleen Sherman and BAM!! Worked away...
I must say our new website definitely shows off our personalities, who we are, what we are about, and what we hope to do. I kept it simple because it annoys me when I look on other cinematographers sites who dump fancy graphics and cliche words onto their website...not to mention shout out EVERY award they have ever won. I feel that when it comes to wedding cinematography, it's plain and simple, your work should speak for itself. If you produce great work let that shine, not your overdone website!
With that said...GO explore the new 618studios website :) Hope you all like what you see!!
p.s. to see a few highlights from our promo session with Colleen check it out!!
