Thankful for Organization...

Over this Thanksgiving holiday I am finally able to devote time to our closet...sadly I don't have a "before" picture, but trust me..it was bad. I set aside a couple hours to organize this bad boy and wollaaa! I love our closet now. I would still love to get my hands on a ground shoe organizer so get my shoes off the floor..maybe for Christmas :)

On a side note....here is our extra closet for pretty much anything and everything..as you can see by this photo. I'm not really sure where we went wrong with this closet, it was such a blur moving in together after the wedding we just kinda threw everything in there and tried to forget about it. I cannot stand this room, I cringe when I open the door to grab the vacuum. I can only imagine what a project this will be...I'm saving it for Christmas break.

Anyways :) I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with friends and family. Remember to give thanks to our Lord for all you have!! Blessings!

Last night I came upon this AMAZING site that sells thee coolest camera items!! Although Paul and I are not photographers by any means, we do use DLSR cameras to film all our projects, may that be a wedding, business promo, love story, orr...save the date video :) Therefore, I am entitled to oogle over these fun toys...check out my Christmas list!
This bag is freaking rad! I want, I want...

I don't normally use a strap on my camera...but this one is just so cool it makes me want to!

love.sweet.love

Hello faithful followers :)

Hope you are all having a fantastic week so far! This weekend I spent the majority of my time creating a save the date video...ya that's right video! for a client of ours who are ridiculously awesome!! I love it when couples trust us and give us the freedom to do whatever we want. That is seriously when I feel like we do our best work..therefore, this is what we came up with for the save the date video...The bride to be had given me a couple suggestions on what needed to be included but at that after that it was all in my hands...muahahaha!!!!!! For some reason the line "I've got the power" from that song plays over in my head when I think of this. Anyways here it is, if you are a frequent facebooker like I am you probably have seen it but watch it again because it's that awesome. :) Blessings guy!

a girl can never have enough stamps...

ok, I can already tell how addicting blogging can become..I feel myself getting sucked in and I'm not doing anything to stop it :). It's kind of fun documenting your life and current thoughts. Speaking of current thoughts..I daily have been lusting over this stamp that I came across on wedzu.com, those of you not familiar with it, it's like etsy but kind of better. However, I still can't put myself up to spending $25 on just a stamp. I try to justify it by telling myself, "you will use it a lot when you send out wedding DVD's to clients..." hmm possible business expense? lol. In the mean time lust with me on this $25 stamp...

618{studios}

If someone were to tell me a year ago that I would be a business owner...I probably would have laughed out loud. No joke. I have always been interested in filmmaking (hence the reason I am a film major) but I never thought about doing weddings. Let's be honest here...wedding photographer = full time job. wedding videographer = something that jo-schmo does on the side just cuz he can press record on a video camera and throw some clips together in final cut pro.

I recently started a conversation with a girl who was also a fellow film major who asked me, "why aren't you driven to work in Hollywood and become a big time filmmaker?" Well for one, Hollywood is not my cup of tea and two, I want to have a family of my own someday and we all know that Hollywood+family life would never happen. But I'm getting WAY ahead of myself with all this children talk..that is like 5 years from now. Anyways, so this is the story of how 618 began...

After editing a short trailer of our own wedding film, it started getting crazy feedback on Facebook. One person in particular who responded was our wedding photographer Colleen of Color me Rad...(I feel like if 618 makes it big as a wedding cinematography company a trophy should be devoted to her). For real, she has helped us so much with advice and allowing us to book our first wedding back in August 2010.

Now, let's keep in mind that over the summer while Paul and I were plotting this new business venture we were planning on this 2010-2011 year to be just a year of networking and growth. We were not planning on filming any weddings..wow we were wrong. Two weeks later we had booked another wedding, two weeks after that we were at another, and two weeks after that we found ourselves filming another wedding. For 10 weeks straight from August-October we were filming a wedding every other weekend! It was just so beyond us how our small business was taking off! Luckily I now have November to catch up on all this footage, whew. All in all, we are super blessed. So far our 2011 calendar has 9 weddings total lined up..some of these couples we are not even sure how they found us. Paul and I always say that it's God that sends them to us...and we are not joking, God is so good. Each day it is more and more apparent that this was part of His perfect plan.

blog it.

So...I finally gave into this blogging world. Why? I guess I was just curious, so I decided "hey, why not give it a try?" My plan was to begin blogging when I was officially "post-grad." You know when I had nothing better to do with my time but enjoy life outside of college. But...I still have about 6 more months to reach that chapter so I think of it as 6 more months of preparing for my post-grad blogging days.

So 2010 has been a ridiculously awesome year (i'm kind of sad it's almost 2011), just flat out crazy awesome. First, Paul and I got married which was rad.

then...we went honeymooning on the gorgeous islands of Maui + Kauai...

and then...if marriage was not a big enough jump for us...

we started a business!!!

WHEW!!! big year...but such a blessing as well. The first (almost) 5 months of marriage has seriously flown by and it has been so amazing to start 618{studios} with Paul. Seriously, having your husband as a business partner is a-mazing. More to come about 618 later..but I feel like I am already overwhelmed with just completing my first blog post..(sigh) Thanks for reading :)
